For every business lady, it’s a must to dress appropriate irrespective of it being casual or formal business attire. Well, I can define Business Attire as a dress code that gives a first impression on contact with your clients in that your business attire will communicate even before you say anything. For ladies, business attire is typical of a feminine suite and a matching blouse or shirt while for gentlemen, it’s typical of a suit matched with a shirt and a necktie.
Remember when you are a business man or woman, what you wear greatly contributes to your competent or speaks
out your ability and experience in your field. There are basically two different types of business attire for both men and women. That’s business formal attires and business casual attires.
Business Formal Attires: Business formal attires are like the traditional business attire where women dress in female suits paired with a matching blouse and Nude Pumps or any formal Heels. Men dress in business suits mainly navy suits with a light blue or white shirt and a necktie. This is the most recommended business attire for working days from Monday to Thursday. The shirts and bloused are always long sleeved.
Business Casual Attire: The most appropriate business attire for women is wearing basic pants with matching blouses or shirts that aren’t formal. The pants mainly worn are either khaki pants or dark pants paired with white, neutral color blouses or any other matching top. The appropriate business attire for men is wearing khaki pants or trousers paired with a matching shirt and complemented with a blazer or jacket.
BASICS FOR BUSNESS ATTIRE
Women’s Business Attire Basics:
Well I should say that all business attires for women are meant to be conservative rather than being stylish. This will help your clients focus on what you do or what you are doing than looking at your “figure”. A stylish outfit will distract the attention of your clients and won’t focus on your work. Dress in suit pants in dark, navy or black fabrics and pair them with a white or light blue blouse for formal business attire. Any other color of the blouse can work as long as it matches with the trend. We recommend a white or a light blue blouse coz it matches with navy, dark or black suits.
Alternatively, women can dress business attires in skirted suits of 1 inch length slightly above the knee. Don’t dress in too short skirts as they will distract the attention of the clients from your work. The skirted suit can also be in navy, dark or black fabrics like the pantsuits. Pair the skirted suit with a matching blouse preferably white or light blue.
Women’s Shoes and Accessories to Wear with Business Attires
The most recommended shoes to wear with women’s business attire will be a closed-toe leather shoe with a low heel. Closed toe leather pumps with low heels will be the best to pair with business women’s attire.
Women’s Accessories to Wear with Business Attires
When it comes to accessories, accessorize the attire with little or reduced accessories such as a simple cute short necklace, short earrings and a few armlets. You will be good enough to go for your business meeting.
Bags to Pair with Women’s Business Attire
Ladies should opt for briefcase that is light to carry but big enough to carry all your business tools. In case you are tired of a briefcase and want to change, you can opt for a handbag that is big enough to accommodate all your files and it should be able to close neatly. Carry along with a gold or silver metallic pen to endorse the business documents.
Hair and Makeup to Pair with Women’s Business Attire
You should style your hair to a style that looks formal and responsible. Your hair shouldn’t cover your face or fall into your face as it will distract the clients when all the time you are fidgeting or trying to move it way from your face. I would recommend hairstyle or haircuts such as Chignon, Bun, French twist, long wavy, Curly, Bob, Shoulder Length, Ponytail, among others.
When applying makeup, apply light-colored makeup that is simple and light. Use less scented perfumes and try to avoid strong perfumes as they will inconvenience other clients. It will be a good idea to trim your finger nails for easy typing, writing and to keep them clean.
Men’s Business Attire Basics:
Men can dress in dark, navy or black suits. When choosing or buying a jacket, make sure that its sleeves end at your wrist. When it’s shorter or longer than the wrist bone, don’t buy it or wear it as business attire. Pair the suit with a white or light blue shirt which must be slightly beyond the sleeves of your jacket. Complement the trend with necktie preferably a polka dot in blue or dark colors.

Men should wear work shoes such as oxford shoes, toe’ bit loafer with business attires. Casual shoes, driving shoes, sneakers are a complete NO to wear with business attires for men. Make sure you polish your shoe to shine and wear it with dark color socks.
When it comes to accessorizes, men can accessorize their outfit with a leather belt of the same color like the shoes. This will complement the shoes making the attire look great. You can complement the attire with a hand watch and an engagement ring on your finger if any. You are now good to go.
