FLAT BRAIDED MOHAWK HAIRSTYLE FOR BLACK WOMEN

Black women especially African American women can create a braided Mohawk Hairstyle and look cute with either short hair or medium length hair. In this Mohawk Hairstyle, you don’t have to use human hair extensions to add length and volume to your hair coz it can as well be styled on your short natural hair. It looks cute, adorable yet it’s easy to create and style as it will take you less than 10 minutes to achieve a finished look.

HOW TO CREATE AND STYLE FLAT BRAIDED MOHAWK HAIRSTYLES FOR BLACK WOMEN

To begin start with clean dry hair this will be easy to work with during the styling processes. Stretched hair will make the process of creating and styling flat braided Mohawk Hairstyle easier thus I would recommend stretching your hair before styling.

In this Mohawk Hairstyle, you will do corner rolls going up into the Mohawk so section off the side are which you are going to braid. The section should start right above your eye (tear duct) towards the back of your head.

Divide that side section into two small sections by making a diagonal part upwards right above your ear. Secure the back section with hair clip so that you can work on the front section first (one section at a time).

To condition your hair and reduce frizz apply leave-in hair condition to each section (in this case front section) you are going to work on before styling.

Apply butter cream hydrator which will help your hair to style soft and moisturized all day and all night.

Start creating corn rolls in the front section by braiding small sections of hair from the front section going upwards and leave the ends of the braid so that it’s included into the Mohawk. Continue braiding the front section till when you are done with all the hair in the front section.

Remove the clip from the back (behind) section and apply leave-in hair conditioner (reduce frizz) and butter cream hydrator (make hair style soft and moisturized) as you did before.

To create the corn rolls to the back side section, you are going to braid it slanting slightly downwards i.e. braid from the top slanting as you move downwards towards the back and leave the ends to be added to Mohawk.

When you are done braiding one side, repeat the same processes on the other side of your head to create the same braid as you did to the side you braided first.

When the two sides of your head are done styling (braiding), it’s time to create a Mohawk look with the hair in the middle or top of your head. In this section, you will create a no heat twisting curl which won’t cause damage to your hair.

Starting at the front, grab small to medium sections of hair, apply cream jelly styler for a nice flexible hold and total protection argon oil to make your hair shine then twist away from your face.

Set the curls by apply your favorite rolls each twist. Twist and apply your favorite rolls to the entire middle or top section and allow your hair to air dry and set for about 4-6 hours.

When your hair is completely dry, remove the rolls and start separating each twist into about 4-6 pieces till when all the twists in the middle section are done.

To add volume to your hair, use a wide toothed comb to lift the roots of your hair.

Since you want the hair to be pushed back from the sides, move the hair towards the middle and pin it in place with a few bobby pins. You are done creating and styling a flat braided Mohawk hairstyle for black women.

FAUX MOHAWK HAIRSTYLE FOR BLACK WOMEN

This is a cute Mohawk hairstyle which you can wear to special occasions such as prom, homecoming or any other special occasion. This Faux Mohawk hairstyle will make you outstanding even in a crown of millions of ladies with different updos and buns. I would recommend styling this hair when your hair is of at least medium length otherwise you have to use human hair extensions to achieve this fancy and cute Mohawk hairstyle.

HOW TO CREATE & STYLE FAUX MOHAWK HAIRSTYLE FOR BLACK WOMEN

Since you will be curling your hair and you don’t want hair damage and hair loos due to heat, start by apply heat protectant to your hair. You can either apply it directly to your hair or spray it on your hair brush then brush through your hair to remove any knots and tangle.

Section your hair into three different sections (top, middle and back section) since the curls are going to be applied differently in each section.

Secure the top and middle section with hairclips then start curling at the bottom with the back section. If your hair is short at the back, you can apply hair extensions to add length and volume then section your hair into half.

Grab small sections of hair in the back section depending on the size of your curling iron and begin to curl section by section till when the entire back section is finished. Try to make the curls as tight as possible and close to the scalp as close as possible. In each section you finish curling, clip it in place to allow the curls set as they cool.

Foe the middle sections, the curls are going to be tight but NOT as close to the scalp as for the back section. Grab small chucks of hair in the middle section and starting curling till when you are done with all the hair in the middle section. Remember to secure each curl with hair clips.

Foe the top or front section, estimate were your pompadour will be then starting curling that section from that point as you move towards the ends of your hair. Now that all your hair has been curled, allow the curls to cool and set for about 5-10 minutes then release it.

Once again section off the top or front section away and secure it using hairclip. Section off your middle section again, brush it to make it smooth the tightly pull your hair upwards to make a high ponytail. This is the part which will stand out on the sides so you have to make it look smooth and attractive.

Grab the back section (bottom section) and secure it into a low ponytail. Just like the way you did to the middle section, you have to pull your hair as tight as possible then smooth it out before securing it into a low ponytail.

Take sections of the hair from the middle section and use it to hide the ponytail in the back section and the lines between the middle and back section. Pin with a couple of bobby pins to secure on your scalp.

It’s now time to style the front section, take small sections of hair tease at the back to add volume and thickness then either roll it and pin it in place or lye it as part of your ponytail to create a little bump or pompadour.

Take another section from the front section, apply hairspray, tease in the back from the roots to the middle then either roll it and pin it in place or lye it as part of your ponytail to create a little bump or pompadour.

Repeat this processes till when all the hair in the front section is done but for the very last front section near your hairline, apply hairspray, back comb it, twist it a little then push forward and pin it downwards using a couple of bobby pins.

Arrange the hair on the sides in the way you want it to look like and you will be done creating a Faux Mohawk hairstyle for black women.

TRENDY MOHAWK HAIRSTYLE FOR BLACK WOMEN

This Mohawk hairstyle is trendy, pretty, cute and easy to style which will take you less than 20 minutes to achieve a finished look. You can create and style this hairstyle with medium length hair or long hair. Ladies with short hair who would like to style their hair to this trendy Mohawk hairstyle can as well opt for human hair extension to add volume, length and thickness to their hair.

HOW TO CREATE AND STYLE THIS TRENDY MOHAWK HAIRSTYLE FOR BLACK WOMEN

Begin by separating three sections of hair and tie them into ponytails; one section on top of your head, followed by a section above your ears and the last section with your remaining hair at the back.

Now divide each ponytail into small sections and use a curling iron to curl them. You can use a one inch curling iron or any size of curling iron depending on the size of the curls you want to create. Don’t make the curls so tight since you will be making them messy when styling the Mohawk hairstyle.

After curling each ponytail, gently tease the hair to give it a little volume and thickness especially for ladies with fine or thin hair but if your hair is thick like mine, there is no need for teasing.

Take small sections of hair forming loops around the base of the ponytail and pin them on the remaining of the scalp. Try to alternate the sizes of the loops and place them close to each other. All you are trying to do is creating a loop in the center thus the loops don’t need to be perfect.

Continue to repeat the same steps on each of the remaining ponytails. Divide the ponytails into small sections and tease them. Take sections and form loops just below the previous one.

When you are done looping and pinning all the sections of the ponytail, use the fingers and tease them up the ends towards the center.

Gently pull in and out the loops to create volume and style in a way you want them to look like. Finish the look by applying hairspray on the sides and gently brush the sides up towards the center and you will be done and good to go with this trendy Mohawk hairstyle.
